You're never out of the city, but it feels like you're miles away.  The St Louis Riverfront Trail trail leads from the hulking old power building at the north end of Laclede's Landing, to the spectatular river crossing at the Chain of Rocks Bridge.  With the Mississippi River at your side, you'll see the industrial north end of St Louis along with the natural beauty of the river banks.  Watch barges loading, enjoy the views approaching the Arch and downtown, see rail yards and storage facilities at work.

To get to the trail from the Arch, head north along the river on Lenore K Sullivan Blvd (aka Wharf Street).  Eventually the street forces you to turn left (west) just before a huge old power building.  Immediately past the power building, turn right, so you are heading north again.  After less that a block, you'll see the trail heading off to the right.  Just watch for the signs.
