Paul Bunyan Trail Elevation Chart
How hilly is the trail?
The Paul Bunyan Trail is mostly flat or with long gradual ascents/descents. The trail mostly follows an old railroad right-of-way, so inclines had to be long and gradual.
However, there is a 9-mile section south of Walker - roughly 57 miles north of Brainerd - where the trail meanders through the Chippewa National Forest. Along this section you will find some steeper grades. In the chart below, this is the section between "Trail Split" and Walker.
