Virginia Creeper Trail
One of America's most scenic trails, the Virginia Creeper Trail runs through Damascus and Abingdon Virginia near the Tennessee and North Carolina borders.
The Appalachian Trail intersects the Virginia Creeper Trail at Damascus, and the two trails run close to each other for a few miles east of there.
You can tell from the many hostels and outfitters that Damascus is a trail town.
A rail-trail, the Virginia Creeper Trail follows an old route of the Norfolk and Western Railroad.
Equestrian use
is allowed on the trail.
